The LVFN Study
A study of the efficacy of Taldalafil administered on demand to men of various populations with erectile dysfunction. This study is open to men with erectile dysfunction of various causes. The efficacy of Taldalafil, an oral medication to treat erectile dysfunction will be assessed over a 12 week period by questionnaire.
The Reduce Trial
A randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel group study of the efficacy and safety of dutasteride over 4 years to reduce the risk of prostate cancer. This study is open to men who are at risk for developing prostate cancer, but have had at least one negative prostate biopsy. This study examines whether the drug dutasteride, which prevents the conversion of testosterone to its active form and is used to treat the symptoms of BPH, is effective in preventing prostate cancer.
Select Trial
A Selenium and Vitamin E Prostate Cancer Prevention trial. Eligible to all men over 55 with no prior history of prostate cancer. In this study, patients are randomized to receive either Vitamin E, Selenium, both or neither. They are monitored over a 7 year period for the development of prostate cancer.
The Zometa Osteoporosis Prevention Trial
This is a study of the effect of Zometa compared to placebo on bone mineral density in patients undergoing androgen deprivation therapy for advanced prostate cancer. Patients on hormone ablation therapy for advanced prostate cancer are at high risk of developing osteoporosis. In this trial patients are randomized to receive either the intravenous medication Zometa or placebo once every 12 weeks and their bone mineral density is monitored by DEXA scan.
